Crispy Baked Tofu Strips

1 pkg. extra firm tofu
1/2 cup almond milk
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/3 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1/4 tsp. cayenne powder
1/4 tsp. onion powder


Rinse and dry tofu with paper towels. Slice tofu into 8-9 strips, lengthwise. Preheat oven to 400F and oil baking sheet.

Whisk together the milk and cornstarch in a shallow dish. In another bowl, mix together the rest of ingredients. Dip a tofu strip into the milk mixture and then into cornmeal mixture. Coat entirely and place on baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining strips.

Bake tofu on middle rack for 20 minutes, then flip and bake for another 15 minutes until crispy–don’t overcook. Serve as a main dish, or use for tacos, with rice, or to accent another dish.
