King Burgers

Ingredients

1 cup soaked or canned garbanzo beans♥
¼ cup unsweetened soymilk
1 cup quick or regular rolled oats
1 onion minced
½ cup chopped walnuts and/or sunflower seeds
Minced red, green and yellow peppers (optional)
2 tsp. Braggs Liquid Aminos or soy sauce
1 tsp. Italian seasoning or sage
2 tsp. McKay's beef-style seasoning or seasoning salt

Instructions

  1. Process garbanzos and milk in a blender until smooth, adding a small amount of milk as necessary for blending (not too much or it will get very sticky).
  2. Pour into a large bowl and add remaining ingredients. Mix well.
  3. Spray griddle or skillet. Drop by large scoop or spoon dipped in
  4. water each time to keep it from sticking. Flatten with back of spoon or spatula dipped in water.
  5. Cover & brown slowly over medium heat (350 on electric skillet) for 7 minutes on first side then turn, cover and cook an additional 5-7 minutes.

Serve right away or cool on rack and refrigerate or freeze for later.

♥ You can use drained and rinsed canned garbanzo beans or soak dry garbanzo beans overnight in water - 2 cups water to 1 cup dry beans. Drain and rinse beans; then to make them more digestible, freeze for several hours and thaw before using. It is easier to do this ahead of time and take them out of the freezer a few hours before making burgers.
